"Armed & Dangerous" is a video game created by Planet Moon Studios and released by LucasArts. It is a third person Action/Adventure Comedy shooter which parodies both other games and several other media such as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Monty Python's Holy Grail, using humorous in-game dialogue and cutscenes.
"Armed and Dangerous" takes place in a small, fictional country called Milola which is under the tyrannical rule of the evil King Forge. The game centers around a band of thieves and the only militant resistance to the King, a group called the Lionhearts by the people for their bravery. The group is led by a career criminal named Roman, his childhood friend Jonesy, one of the King's tea-obsessed robot bodyguards-gone-rogue named Q, and Roman's adopted father, Rexus.
The eventual goal of the game is to 'pull off the ultimate heist' and recover the Book of Rule, an ancient artifact with the power to destroy the King's empire.
Trivia:
* A type of enemy in the forest are named Twiglets, the same as a savoury snack also marketed in the UK.
* The character of Q and his beverage habits is a pun on the Typhoo instant tea QT product.
* Throughout the game, there are references to Planet Moon's previous game Giants: Citizen Kabuto.
* During a cutscene of the game, an Elvis impersonator/soothsayer is said to speak of the 'Majorcan Prophecy' (which then becomes the 'journey' of the lead characters of AAD), which also happens to be the planet the Meccaryns were trying to get to for a vacation in Giants before their ship crashed.
* Locations named 'Dick Wittington' has been mentioned in both Giants and AAD.
* The character design of Rexus resembles a 'Smartie' lifeform from Giants.
* "The famed blind seer Rexus" is mentioned in a cutscene in Giants.
